325,136. Noble, T. J. March 9, 1929. Shears.-A member 7 secured to the end of a long pole 6 has an extension plate 7a and a plate 8 between which one arm 4 of a pair of shears is clamped by bolts 23, 24 accommodated in inclined slots in the plates 7, 8. The end of the arm 4 rests on a projection 20. The other arm 1 of the shears is secured to a socket 39, to which is attached a cord 43 passing over a pulley 36 to the other end of the pole 6, so that the shears can be used for pruning tall trees with the operator standing on the ground. The member 7 may be a casting or may be stamped from sheet metal. The socket 39 may have a packing member so that shears having different sizes of operating arms may be used.
