A bending operation device for endoscope includes a cylindrical driving member 18, a bending operation knob 4 which is pivotable together with the cylindrical driving member 18, a pivoting stop member 10 configured not to pivot with respect to the cylindrical driving member 18, tabular fastening members 11, 12 which are movable to a first position and a second position, a friction plate 14 which contacts an inner circumferential surface 4n of the bending operation knob 4 and which is held by the tabular fastening members 11, 12 in the second position, slits 11s, 12s, a pivotable annular member 15 including a projecting portion 15t which pierces through the slits 11 s, 12s, and is movable in the slits 11 s, 12s, a cam groove provided to the projecting portion 15t and configured to move the tabular fastening members 11, 12 from the first position to the second position according to rotation of the annular member 15, and a fixing lever 5 configured to perform pivoting operation of the annular member 15.
