PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter for removing foreign substances capable of suppressing growth of bacteria such as mold and reducing odor components and stains by decomposition, and a washing machine using the same.SOLUTION: A filter comprises a body part 60, a collection part 61, and a light guide part 62. At least on the surface of the collection part 61, a photocatalyst performing a photocatalytic function by light guided through the light guide part 62 is disposed.
