An object information acquiring apparatus is used that includes； a measurement unit comprising a probe that receives acoustic waves from an object, and a position and attitude detector configured to detect at least three positions from among anatomical landmarks of the object； and an information processing device that acquires characteristic information on the interior of the object using the acoustic waves received by the probe.
