The device may also feature a funnel-shaped entrance to the archwire passage that includes a plurality of surfaces having convex curvatures to provide a curved taper to the distal section of the passage. These continuous curved surfaces guide the ends of the archwire into the passage and minimize or avoid abrupt transition areas that can impede insertion.
