PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an operator to operate a switch operably disposed in a body operating part, inoperable with fingers of a hand holding the body operating part, and operable with fingers of the other hand or when the body operating part is retained by a retaining means, and to securely prevent erroneous operation of the switch.
SOLUTION: First and second operating means assemblies 16L and 16R are disposed in a body casing 10a of a casing 10 of the body operating part 1 of an endoscope. Angle operating levers 22L and 22R are extended from both left and right side faces of the body casing 10a to make thumb-rest operating parts 22aL and 22aR bent at right angles, and the switch 25 is mounted under the thumb-rest operating parts. The gap B between the thumb-rest operating parts 22aL and 22aR is narrower than the width of a normal thumb and has such a size that the fingertip can be inserted into the gap.
