Cosmetic cleansing compositions and methods employing the cleansing compositions are provided; cosmetic cleansing composition includes: a) at least one anionic surfactant and/or a fatty acid soap, b) at least one animal wax and/or a derivative of an animal wax, c) at least one vegetable oil, d) at least one C2-C6 polyol, e) at least one natural thickening agent, f) at least one chamomile (Asteraceae) extract, and g) allantoin (glyoxyldiureide, (2,5-Dioxo-4-imidazolidinyl) urea). Most preferably components a-g are present at 40.0 to 70.0 wt.%, 0.10 to 3.0 wt.%, 0.10 to 10.0 wt.%, 3.0 to 15.0 wt.%, 0.20 to 1.50 wt.%, 0.005 to 0.5 wt.%, and 0.001 to 1.0 wt.% respectively. Most preferably, the fatty acid soap is a sodium lardate, sodium palmate or sodium tallowate. Most preferably, the animal wax is beeswax. Most preferably, the vegetable oil is sunflower oil. Most preferably, the polyol is glycerin. Most preferably, the natural thickening agent is carrageenans and/or carrageenates.
