A hospital and/or care bed (1) comprising a side-rail arrangement which has at least two posts (30, 70), each mounted to be pivotable relative to the frame of the bed via a lower rotational point (32, 72), said posts are pivotable between at least one upright position, with which the side rails are in a use position, and a non-use position, with which, in particular, the posts (30, 70) are aligned substantially along the longitudinal direction of the bed. The side-rail arrangement has at least one bar (40) which is mounted to be pivotable relative to the posts (30, 70) via upper post rotational points (44, 45), wherein a locking (47) or clamping is provided for the side-rail arrangement in the use position. When the side-rail arrangement is in the use position, a spring element (39) exerts a force on the side-rail arrangement, said force holds the side-rail arrangement in the use position and the amount of said force corresponds to a force of at least 25 N acting on the free end of one of the posts in the longitudinal direction of the bar.
