A method and a medication organizer tray apparatus for organizing medicationsand collecting medication adherence information are provided. The medicationorganizertray apparatus includes a support frame, multiple medication binsaccommodatingmultiple medications, a bin cover layer with multiple customized bin labels,and aconductive circuit layer. The support frame includes multiple aperturespositioned atpredefined intervals from each other for placement of the medication bins. Thecustomized bin labels having medical information printed thereon seal openingsof themedication bins. The conductive circuit layer includes conductive linesrunning along oneor more of a lower surface of the bin cover layer, around each medication bin,and alower surface of each medication bin. The conductive circuit layerelectricallycommunicates with a receptacle base to enable detection of removal of eachmedicationbin from the support frame and detection of tampering of the medication bins.
