To align a coordinate system of a medical image diagnostic apparatus with a coordinate system of a peripheral device in a simplified manner.SOLUTION: A medical image diagnostic apparatus according to the embodiment includes a first acquisition unit, a second acquisition unit, and a derivation unit. The first acquisition unit acquires, based on image data obtained by photographing a peripheral device, acquires a first position of a predetermined portion of the peripheral device, a first direction of a rotation axis of the peripheral device, and a first rotation angle of the peripheral device in a coordinate system of the medical image diagnostic apparatus. The second acquisition unit acquires, from the peripheral device, a second position of the predetermined portion, a second direction of the rotation axis, and a second rotation angle of the peripheral device.
