PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an odorless new polypeptide exhibiting foaming characteristics of low foam stability such as high initial foaming properties and disappearance of foam in a relatively early stage, to provide a foaming agent and to provide a method for producing the polypeptide.

SOLUTION: The method for producing the soluble polypeptide derived from Pisum sativum whey comprises the following steps. an impurity removing step of removing impurities in the Pisum sativum whey, a filtering step of affording a fraction having &ge3,000 molecular weight and a drying step of drying the fraction freed of the impurities and providing the powdery polypeptide.
