A conveyance for surmounting obstacles is describedincluding: a first ground engaging arrangement； and a second groundengaging arrangement； the first and second ground engaging arrangementsare operable to move in an alternating sequence of movements toenable the conveyance to surmount obstacles； the conveyance is staticallybalanced alternately by one then the other of the ground engagingarrangements throughout the sequence of movements； each ground engagingarrangement includes a forwardly disposed portion and a rearwardlydisposed portion which are spaced apart from one another； andeach ground engaging arrangement further includes an obstacle accommodatingregion located between the forwardly disposed portion andthe rearwardly disposed portion which can accommodate a portion ofan obstacle being surmounted in use.
