The present invention relates to a sterilizer for a handrail, and more specifically, to a sterilizer for a handrail, which is configured to sterilize a surface of a rotating handrail of an escalator or a moving work installed at various facilities to maintain good health of users using public facilities and prevent the spread of communicable diseases. The sterilizer for a handrail comprises a sterilization kit and a lower part fixing body. The sterilization kit comprises: a sterilization part having a plurality of sterilization lamps installed on a surface, which has an inclined and roundly curved surface, to perform upward irradiation a sterilization part fixing housing fixedly supporting the sterilization part and having a display window positioned on one side thereof to display various pieces of information and an elevation part positioned on a lower end of the sterilization part fixing housing to entirely elevate and lower the sterilization part fixing housing. The lower part fixing body comprises: an elevation support part positioned on an inside surface to allow the sterilization part to be placed on a top part thereof to be elevated up and down a battery positioned inside to display a charged/discharged amount on the display window to supply power to the sterilization lamps and the display window a charging terminal positioned at one side surface to be connected to an external power, thereby allowing the battery to be charged and a power supply control switch positioned at one side surface to control power supplied from the battery to each part.
