The present invention relates to a wound dressing comprising an absorbent core with a top carrier layer and a bottom carrier layer carrying a superabsorbent substance dispersed between the top carrier layer and the bottom carrier layer, and a shell formed by a facing layer and a backing layer, wherein the absorbent core is located in the shell between the facing layer and the backing layer, wherein the facing layer and the backing layer each comprise a supporting structure, and wherein the supporting structure of the facing layer and of the backing layer each comprise an inner surface facing towards the absorbent core and an outer surface facing away from the absorbent core. To provide an improved wound dressing, which is capable of reducing a wearer's discomfort and/or helps to prevent a re-contamination of the wound by wound fluids flowing out from the wound dressing and returning into the wound, in the wound dressing according to the present invention at least one of the outer surface of the supporting structure of the facing layer and the outer surface of the supporting structure of the backing layer is laminated with a foam layer.
