PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drug delivery device for an oral drag to be retained in a stomach.SOLUTION: A drug delivery device expandable from a folded shape for oral ingestion to an expanded shape for retention in a stomach comprises a first exterior layer, an inner layer, and a second external layer, in this order. The first and second layers provide mechanical force enough to expand the drug delivery device from the folded shape to the expanded shape in response to exposure to gastric medium. After the drug delivery device expanded, the inner layer provides mechanical force in the gastric medium enough to allow for keeping the expanded shape to provide retention in the stomach.
