PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a highly active POA, which effectively removes inactive mitraphylline from six components of POA (Pentacyclic Oxyindole Alkaloid) derived from Uncaria Tomentosa in such a degree as not to inhibit activity of other POA components, achieves high activation of POA and effectively performs isolation of isopteropodine exhibiting high activity in the POA components.
SOLUTION: The method for producing a highly active POA includes adding one or more of toluene, benzene and xylene as a solvent to a POA solution extracted from Uncaria Tomentosa, reducing solubility of mitraphylline in the POA components to precipitate the mitraphylline and removing the precipitated mitraphylline. The method for producing a highly active POA includes isolating isopteropodine in the POA components by a column chromatography after removal of the mitraphylline.
