An apparatus, and method of making such an apparatus, for controlling release of a drug from a drug-eluting balloon during delivery of a drug-eluting balloon to a situs within a body. More particularly, the present invention relates to a diametrically expandable sleeve (12) having a first non-diametrically unexpanded state in which drug retained on or in a drug-eluting balloon (18) is protected from release by a sleeve and a second diametrically expanded state in which drug retained on or in the drug-eluting balloon is exposed for focal release in the body by diametric expansion of the sleeve, exposing openings in the sleeve during diametric expansion and closing the openings in the sleeve when the sleeve is in its diametrically unexpanded state.L'invention concerne un appareil et un procédé de fabrication d'un tel appareil, permettant de réguler la libération d'un médicament à partir d'un ballonnet d'élution de médicament pendant la pose d'un ballonnet d'élution de médicament sur un site à l'intérieur d'un corps. Plus particulièrement, la présente invention concerne un manchon diamétralement extensible (12) comportant un premier état non diamétralement déployé dans lequel un médicament retenu sur ou dans un ballonnet d'élution de médicament (18) est protégé de la libération par un manchon et un second état diamétralement déployé dans lequel le médicament retenu sur ou dans le ballonnet d'élution de médicament est soumis à une libération focale dans le corps par déploiement diamétral du manchon, faisant apparaître des ouvertures dans le manchon pendant le déploiement diamétral et fermant les ouvertures dans le manchon lorsque le manchon est dans son état diamétralement non déployé.
