An illumination device for use with a medical tool includes a handle, a lighting member supported by the handle, and a coupler supported by or forming a portion of the handle. When coupled to the medical tool, the illumination devices (a) handle is disposed substantially non- parallel, transverse, or perpendicular to the elongate portion of the medical tool, and (b) lighting member can direct or output illumination toward or to a working or distal end of the medical tool.
