PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the frame rate in forming an ultrasonic image based on a harmonic receiving signal.
SOLUTION: An ultrasonic image forming apparatus 10 forms two receiving beams 40-1 and 40-2 for one transmission beam 38. The receiving beam 40-1 is formed on the same beam forming line 36-1 as the transmission beam, and the receiving beam 40-2 is formed on an adjacent beam forming line 36-2. As the receiving beam 40-2 is formed at a position deviated from the receiving beam 38, the receiving beam 40-2 receives reflection wave from an area in which the sound pressure of the transmission wave is small. Next, a transmission beam 42 is formed on the line 36-2, and receiving beams 44-1 and 44-2 are formed for the transmission beam 42. The harmonic receiving signal is generated by the receiving beams 40-2 and 44-1 with large or small sound pressures on the same line 36-2.
