A method for display, consisting of acquiring anelectrical signal from a heart of a subject over multipleheart cycles. The electrical signal is partitioned into asuccession of synchronized segments having respectivestart times at a selected annotation point in the heartcycles. The method includes overlaying respectivegraphical representations of the synchronized segments inthe succession on a display screen, such that eachsegment is first presented on the display screen with aninitial display intensity at a respective display timecorresponding to a respective start time of the segment. The method further includes gradually decreasing adisplay intensity of each segment overlaid on the displayscreen as a decaying function of a time elapsed since therespective display time.
