PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology to accurately detect a bed region from an image.SOLUTION: In a watching support system 1 for supporting watching of an object person on a bed, a region setting part 114 executes processing to specify a region of the bed by receiving an image for setting a region taken by an imaging device 10, specifying an approximate position of the bed by the detection of an object from the image for setting a region, and extracting a contour of the bed from a local range including the approximate position. A detection part 111 analyzes an image acquired by an image acquisition part 110, and detects predetermined portions of the person to be watched (e.g., the head, the face, and the upper half of the body) from the image.
