PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a closure system for braces, protective wear and similar articles.SOLUTION: A closure system includes a plurality of opposing lace guide members 249 and 250, and a tightening mechanism 225. The closure system further includes a lace 223 extending through the guide members 249 and 250 and coupled to the tightening mechanism 225. In some embodiments, a quick release apparatus is included to facilitate opening of the closure system.
