A medical device and methods for making and using the same are disclosed. Exemplary medical devices include a medical guidewire that includes a core wire. The core wire may include a distal constant diameter portion, a first taper portion, an intermediate constant diameter portion, a second taper portion, and a proximal constant diameter portion. By attaching the distal end of the first tapered portion to the proximal end of the distal constant diameter portion, the first taper portion and the proximal end of the distal constant diameter portion are brought into contact with each other. A music point may be defined. When a predetermined first force in the longitudinal direction is applied to the distal end of the distal constant diameter portion along the longitudinal axis, the distal constant diameter portion pops out, thereby causing a first around the first inflection point.
