The invention provides sterile compositions comprising a complex of atherapeutic peptide and a polysaccharide selected from the group consisting ofcellulose derivatives, chitin, chitosans, galactomannans, and mixturesthereof, wherein the complex has been sterilised with ionising radiation. Thepresence of the polysaccharides surprisingly stabilizes therapeutic peptidesagainst decomposition under ionising conditions, especially under gamma-irradiation. Processes for the preparation of the sterile compositions andprocesses for the preparation of sterile therapeutic peptides are also claimed.
