The diaper may have a pair of longitudinally extending elastic cuffs and a barrier element between the cuffs, which divides front and back portions of the diaper and may include a wall element and bridge element, the wall element extending essentially perpendicular to the topsheet and defining a rearward barrier plane, the bridge element comprising an element which is positioned rearward of the rearward barrier plane.
