An electrosurgical medical system and method for holding a target tissue portion in a fist position is disclosed. In one embodiment, the target tissue portion may be retracted into the distal chamber of the electrosurgical instrument using a proximal biasing force. The electrode assembly of the electrosurgical instrument may contact the root of the target tissue portion. The electrode assembly may apply an electric current to coagulate the target tissue portion while a biasing force in the proximal direction is being applied.
