A two-component hair care product comprising an anhydrous carrier as a first component and a physically separate aqueous carrier as a second component. The anhydrous carrier contains (a) a branched or unbranched C10-C30 alkane; (b) a branched or unbranched C10-C22 fatty alcohol; and (c) either an alkyl ester, an N,N-dialkyl amide or an ether where the total number of carbon atoms is 6-30 inclusive. The aqueous component contains a cationic tenside, preferably a tetraalkylammonium compound. Preferably (c) is an alkoxylated fatty alcohol, a fatty acid ester or a fatty acid amide, most preferably it is PPG-3 Caprylyl Ether, Capric/Caprylic Triglyceride, Dimethyl Lauramide/Myristamide or Coco Caprylate. Preferably the alkane is dodecane or isododecane. The fatty alcohol is preferably coconut, cetearyl, stearyl, cetyl, myristyl, lauryl or decyl alcohol. In an embodiment, the anhydrous and aqueous phases are separate and are mixed prior to application to form an emulsion.
