PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a food by using a new additive by which a conventional thickener or an emulsifying agent can be replaced. SOLUTION: This method for producing the nonsolid food comprises a step adding the thickener or the emulsifying agent to the food. The method comprises a step adding water and an alkali to devils tongue powder, carrying out swelling and reaction of the powder with water and the alkali. The devils tongue jelly is used as at least a part of the thickener or the emulsifying agent.
