The invention relates to neutralising antibodies which are specific for human cytomegalovirus (hCMV), specifically the antibodies of the invention are specific for a combination of the hCMV proteins UL128, UL130 and UL131A. Antibodies of the invention neutralise infection with high potency. The invention also relates to immortalised B cells that produce such antibodies, to the epitope that the antibodies bind to as well as the use of the antibodies and the epitope in screening methods as well as the diagnosis and therapy of disease.
