A coffin comprising a bottom and fixedly mounted side walls. The coffin is provided with a rigid tray provided with attachment means. The tray can lie onto the bottom inside the coffin supporting a deceased person. The tray can be lifted from the coffin while supporting the deceased person by using the attachment means for load bearing. A method of preparing a deceased person comprising laying a deceased person onto the tray of the coffin, and inserting the tray supporting the deceased person into the coffin by using the attachment means for load bearing. A method of cremating a deceased person resting inside the coffin comprising lifting the tray supporting the deceased person from the coffin by using the attachment means for load bearing, and moving the deceased person into a cremation oven.
