PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge device capable of compatibly attaining highly sterilizing property and sterilizing property having sustainability with good balance for entire discharging period by utilizing the characteristics of short life active elements and long life active elements, respectively.SOLUTION: The discharging device DAI alternately generates the first discharge in which the discharging light emitting height of aerial discharge becomes the first height and the second discharge in which the discharging light emitting height of aerial discharge becomes the second height, the aspect of the generated active element is changed such that the first height is made higher than the second height, the active element generated by the first discharge includes the large amount of short life active element in which the active life is shorter than the active element generated by the second discharge and the active element generated by the second discharge includes the large amount od long life active element in which the active life is longer than the active element generated by the first discharge.
