An automatic image identification and auxiliary dispensing system comprises a prescription database for providing the kinds, names and quantities of medicines, a medicine database for providing appearance characteristics and the data corresponding to the names of the medicines, a detection table for placing the medicines, a photographing unit for taking pictures of the medicines so as to obtain the image discrimination data of the kinds, names, quantities and appearance characteristics of the medicines, a discrimination unit for receiving the image discrimination data and comparing the image discrimination data with the prescription data and the medicine data, if the image discrimination data is the same as the prescription and medicine data, no signal will be outputted, if the image discrimination data is different from the prescription and medicine data, an abnormal signal will be outputted, and a warning unit for receiving the abnormal signal so as to output a warning signal.
