PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver ink composition suitable for forming a metallic silver layer having excellent glossiness and specularity and a substrate having the metallic silver layer formed on the surface by using the silver ink composition.SOLUTION: There is provided an ink composition for ornament or mirror plate for forming a metallic silver layer with 85° glossiness of 90.0 to 157.4 and manufactured by blending one or more kind of &bgr;-ketocarboxylic acid silver selected from a group consisting of silver isobutyryl acetate, silver benzoyl acetate, silver propionyl acetate, acetoacetic acid, α-methyl acetoacetic acid and α-ethyl acetoacetic acid and aliphatic primary amine or secondary amine having 1 to 10 carbon atoms.
