To provide a material for preventing adhesion of an underwater organism which is substituted for a conventional material for preventing the adhesion of the underwater organism (preventing the adhesion of shellfishes or the like to a submarine structure or the like), does not include a heavy metal, is safe and is effective and a coating for preventing the adhesion of the underwater organism.
SOLUTION: The adhesion of the underwater organism is prevented by applying the coating including a poly (2-thiocyanatoethyl (meta) acrylate) single element or a copolymer with other monomers to the surface of the submarine structure or the like in the form of solution or emulsion. Further, the monomer is a vinyl monomer selected from the group consisting of ethylene, propylene and acrylonitrile and acrylamide.
