PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide fast and high quality image reconstruction from limited tomographic data that enables 3D imaging with limited view tomographic systems.SOLUTION: Systems and methods for reconstruction of X-ray images are provided. One method (50) includes a step (52) of acquiring a plurality of image views using an X-ray imaging system, the plurality of image views defining a limited tomographic dataset. The method also includes steps (56, 58, 60, 62) of performing three-dimensional (3D) image reconstruction using the plurality of image views in an iterative reconstruction, wherein the iterative reconstruction includes a step (56) of forming a linear combination based on a plurality of previous iteration results.
