The present disclosure is directed to a method for forming a chewing gum product. The method comprises providing a gum forming system (12, 102) including at least one roller (14, 14a, 16, 16a) and moving a gum composition toward and through said forming system (12, 102) in a direction of flow. The method further comprises creating a plurality of thickness variations in said gum composition in said direction of said flow and in a direction away from said flow via said at least one roller (14, 14a, 16, 16a) of said forming system (12, 102).
