There is provided a condom having a coating or deposit of a composition which includes a physiologically-active agent such as glyceryl trinitrate, wherein the condom has been treated with a neutralising or acidic material such that the condom, when immersed in water, results in the water having a pH of 7 or less. The condom may be treated with an acidic slurry of dusting powder.
