A liquid detergent composition comprising (a) fatty acid salts represented by the general formula (1): R1COOM (1) (wherein R1 is a monovalent straight-or branched-chain hydrocarbon group having 5 to 25 carbon atoms wherein part of the hydrogen atoms may be replaced by hydroxyl and M is an alkali metal), (b) an amphoteric or semipolar surfactant, and (c) a compound having an acid dissociation index of 8.0 to 11.0, in which the component (a) has a content ratio by mass of (fatty acid salts of the general formula (1) wherein R1 is a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 11 or fewer carbon atoms) to (fatty acid salts thereof wherein R1 is a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 12 or more carbon atoms) of 1.5 to 10.0.
