The present invention relates to a composition for protecting nerve cells, and to a functional health food, which comprise pyruvic acids or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof so as to inhibit nerve cell apoptosis caused by ethanol. The present invention further relates to a method for protecting nerve cells from the nerve cell apoptosis caused by ethanol, and to a method for treating neurological disorders, which involve injecting the composition into an individual. The composition for protecting nerve cells of the present invention may inhibit apoptosis induced by ethanol, and therefore may be widely used in the prevention and treatment of nerve damage caused by chemicals such as ethanol.La présente invention concerne une composition permettant de protéger les cellules nerveuses, ainsi qu'un aliment naturel fonctionnel, qui comprennent des acides pyruviques ou leurs sels pharmaceutiquement acceptables de manière à inhiber l'apoptose cellulaire provoquée par l'éthanol. La présente invention porte en outre sur une méthode de protection de l'apoptose des cellules nerveuses provoquée par l'éthanol, et sur une méthode de traitement de troubles neurologiques, qui impliquent l'injection de ladite composition à un individu.
