An antimicrobial coating composition comprising, i) a first polymer; ii) from 50ppm to 2000 ppm of at least one of silver ions and silver element; and iii) from 10％ to 60％ of titanium dioxide particles. From 50％ to 100％ of the titanium dioxide particles are encapsulated by a second polymer; and the total amount of the first and the second polymers is from 5％ to 80％ by dry weight based on total dry weight of the coating composition.
