A method of generating a volume image. The method includes: acquiring a sound generated by a cyclically moving object classifying the acquired sound into periods corresponding to cyclic motions of the cyclically moving object generating sub-volume images corresponding to predetermined regions of a plurality of regions that a cyclically moving object has been divided into by transmitting ultrasound signals towards the cyclically moving object and receiving response signals reflected from the cyclically moving object, at every period and generating a volume image of the object by connecting the generated sub-volume images to one other.
