PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image analysis system which precisely determines a vascular diameter of a blood vessel in an eye fundus image and provides useful information for a diagnosis of diseases such as hypertension or diabetes.
SOLUTION: The image analysis system 1 mainly comprises an image analysis computer 2 equipped with an image data reading means 16 for reading image data 15 of the eye fundus image, a storage means 17 for storing the image data 15 or the like, a region extracting means 20 for extracting a vascular region and a background region based on the image data 15, a focused pixel selecting means 23 for selecting one focused pixel from the vascular region, a means 27 for computing a length of a segment for changing a hypothetical segment in a range of a slope from 0° to 180° and computing a length of the hypothetical segment, and a vascular diameter computing means 28 for computing a length of the minimum segment as the vascular diameter.
