A device comprising: an outer case; aentent-engaging member located inside the outer case; in which the stent is movable distally from the outer case for at least two periods of engagement of the stent with a stent-engaging member, wherein each engagement period is adapted to bring the stent into displacement in the distal direction without mechanical concomitant return of the outer case, wherein each engagement period is separated by a period without engagement of the stent by a stent-engaging member, in which the stent is not driven distally. 2. The device according to claim 1, additionally containing a stent located inside the outer case. The device according to claim 2, in which the stent has a distal end, a proximal end and a cavity extending between the distal end and the proximal end, while the stent-engaging element is located at least partially inside the stent cavity. The device according to claim 2, wherein the stent has a varying axial density after being removed from the outer case by means of a stent-engaging member. The device according to claim 2, in which the stent has a proximal end, and the device further comprises a stent-retaining element that engages the proximal end of the stent. The device according to claim 2, in which the stent contains many braided wires. The device according to claim 6, in which the stent-engaging element is configured to mesh wire intersections during each period of engagement and inward folding and proximal sliding during each non-engagement period.
