A milking parlour and a method of operation is disclosed comprising a robotic manipulation device (25) and a plurality of milking stalls (5) provided on a moveable platform (3). An electronic control system is adapted to vary the speed of the platform (3) in response to the performance of the robotic manipulation device (25). The electronic control system repeatedly determines the current performance of the robotic manipulation device (25) and sets the speed of the platform (3) so that the device completes servicing stall (5b) as the next milking stall (5c) moves within reach of the device (25).
