A method of inhibiting the corrosion of a flexible pipe having a breach, the flexible pipe having an inner and an outer polymer sheath forming an annulus, the annulus having a plurality of metal armor wires, the method comprising injecting an algae strain into the annulus, wherein the algae strain is effective to adjust at least one of the oxygen level, CO2 level, H2S level, and pH level within the annulus and inhibit the corrosion of the armor wires. An anticorrosion kit for inhibiting the corrosion of a flexible pipe having a breach is also provided.
