PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fundus imaging apparatus capable of favorably detecting an alignment index and favorably performing an alignment operation.SOLUTION: A fundus imaging apparatus includes: an illumination optical system for applying illumination light to an eye; an ophthalmography optical system that receives reflected light of the illumination light from the fundus oculi, via an objective lens to photograph the fundus oculi; an anterior eye observation optical system for observing an anterior eye segment, having an image pickup element; and an alignment light source for projecting an alignment index to the eye. The eye and the apparatus are positioned using the alignment index that is projected to the eye via the objective lens when observing the anterior eye segment.
