PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust a holding state of a subject without moving the subject.SOLUTION: A subject information acquisition apparatus is provided that comprises: a holding member which holds an inserted subject and is movable relative to the subject position acquisition means for acquiring information on the position of the inserted subject first control means for adjusting a contact state of the subject with respect to the holding member by controlling the position of the holding member a measurement unit which receives acoustic waves coming from the inside of the subject and is movable relative to the subject second control means for controlling the position of the measurement unit information acquisition means for acquiring information of the inside of the subject based on the received acoustic waves and storage means for storing history information representing information on the contact state of the subject with respect to the holding member when measurement on the subject is performed in the past.
