Provided is a guide wire: with which the position of the tip of the guide wire can be clearly visualized in either X-ray imaging or ultrasound imaging and which does not kink easily and does not easily damage the medical tube disposed on the outside of the guide wire. Said guide wire (10) comprises: a core wire (20), the diameter of the tip (23) of which has been reduced an X-ray-impermeable X-ray marker (30) fitted on the tip (23) of the core wire (20) and an ultrasound marker (40) with ultrasound imaging properties that is bonded at a position adjacent to the X-ray marker (30) of the tip (23) of the core wire (20). The ultrasound marker (40) has a form in which large diameter sections (43) are provided so as to alternate successively along the axial direction of the core wire (20) with small diameter sections (45) having a smaller diameter than that of the large diameter sections. The outer diameters of the X-ray marker (30) and the ultrasound marker (40) in the area where the two are bonded differ from each other.
