The invention relates to an avocado extract rich in polyphenols, containing, expressed in gallic acid equivalent relative to the dry extract obtained, at least 1% by weight of polyphenols, advantageously at least 5% by weight, said polyphenols being procyanidines, caffeic acid and caffeic acid derivatives in a proportion, by weight expressed as gallic acid equivalent relative to the total content by weight of polyphenols, of at least 70%. The invention also relates to a composition comprising as an active ingredient an extract according to the invention and a suitable excipient. The invention also relates to such a composition or such an extract for use in the prevention or treatment of disorders or pathologies of the skin, mucous membranes or integuments. The invention finally relates to a method of cosmetic care of the skin, superficial body growths or mucous membranes, with a view to improving their state or their appearance, of administering such a composition or such an extract.L'invention se rapporte à un extrait d'avocat riche en polyphénols, contenant, exprimé en équivalent d'acide gallique par rapport à l'extrait sec obtenu, au moins 1% en poids de polyphénols, avantageusement au moins 5% en poids, lesdits polyphénols étant des procyanidines, de l'acide caféique et des dérivés de l'acide caféique dans une proportion, en poids exprimée en équivalent d'acide gallique par rapport à la teneur en poids totale de polyphénols, d'au moins 70%.
