A device for obtaining an electrical conductance reading from a patient includes a sensor head for contacting a patient's skin. The device includes a primary conductive tip positioned on the sensor head and an ancillary conductive tip positioned on the sensor head to contact a different portion of the patient's skin than the primary conductive tip. The primary conductive tip and the ancillary conductive tip are electrically isolated from each other.
